October 3, 2007 2:10 p.m. EST Shaveta Bansal - Celebrity News Service Writer New York, NY (CNS) - Former pro-wrestling legend Hulk Hogan is reported to be in final negotiations to host the remake of NBC's competition TV show "American Gladiators." It comes less than a month after the network announced open casting calls seeking amateur athletes for the upcoming series. Hogan, who currently stars on the VH1 reality show "Hogan Knows Best," gained popularity in the late 1980s as an all-American working-class hero character in World Wrestling Federation matches. Hogan, whose real name is Terrence Gene Bollea, entered the World Wrestling Entertainment Hall of Fame in 2005, and is a twelve-time world champion having won World Championship Wrestling (WCW) and WWE Championship six times each. Insiders told TV Week that NBC sees Hogan as "the perfect fit" for the "Gladiators" revival. The network plans to begin broadcasting new episodes of "American Gladiators" sometime in midseason.
