New York, NY (CNS) - Isaac Hanson, guitarist for pop-rock band Hanson, underwent successful surgery on Thursday after being hospitalized for a lung condition. The 26-year-old artist was rushed to Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas on Wednesday, just a day after he played a concert at the House of Blues.

According to a spokesperson for the band, Hanson had complained of chest and shoulder pain and a diagnosis revealed that he was suffering from venous thoracic outlet syndrome, also known as Paget-Schroetter Syndrome. The potentially fatal condition occurs when a blood clot is formed in a deep vein in the arm or shoulder.

A statement released on the band's site said that Hanson's surgeon Dr. Bradley Grimsley expects him to make "a full and swift recovery."

Hanson remained at Baylor in stable condition on Thursday, but is expected to be released Friday pending his doctor's approval.

Isaac is the eldest of the three brothers that comprise the Tulsa, Oklahoma-based band. They are best known for the 1997 hit song "MMMBop."
