Yangon, Myanmar (AHN) -Weapons were found and had been seized from Buddhist monasteries while a number of people were apprehended after Myanmar 's military leaders conducted raids.

According to The New Light of Myanmar, a junta run media outlet, officials are still clueless who the numerous numerous guns, knives and ammunition belong to. However officials admit they were found during recent raids inside monasteries reportedly rebelling against the global indignation over its violent oppression of protesters seeking to an end to 45 years of dictatorship.

As this news story developed, the government warned they would castigate monks that violate the law, adding pressure on clerics leading demonstrations.

"Monks must adhere to the laws of God and the government," according toa government issued statement mentioned in an AP report.

"If they violate those laws, action could be taken against them," it added.

More than a week after soldiers and police opened fire on demonstrators, public safety measures were eased in the region's largest city of Yangon.

The junta reported that some 10 individuals were killed in its Sept. 26-27 attack -- while other sources reveal the death/injury toll was probably higher -- and that some 1,000 are still behind bars.

The New Light of Myanmar reported that some 135 monks are also being held.

According to AP report, investigators are still questioning 78 others tied to the protests.

Tens of thousands of people were driven out for last month's rallies, the biggest in nearly two decades stemming from dissent and frustration from the current brutal military rule.
