Floods In Vietnam Kill 3, Officials Searching For 2 Others

Hanoi, Vietnam (AHN) - Three people were killed, two others are still missing and thousand of people were forced to leave their homes after floods wreck havoc on central Vietnam, Wednesday.

Official Le Van Thu, provincial officer said that the two women missing were from Quang Nam province, while two women and a man drowned for more than two days.

Some 17,000 people were forced to evacuate their flooded homes in central Thua Thien Hue province, while 10,000 houses were affected with the flood in Quang Tri province forcing some 12,000 people to leave their homes.

Disaster official Nguyen Van Song said that people were advised to transfer in a much higher grounds.

It was learned that about 100,000 students were prevented from attending their classes to avoid more accidents.

The Department of floods and storm control said that the heavy rains have showered between 32 centimeters (13 inches) and 98 centimeters (39 inches) of water on the region for the past four days.

>Earlier this month, Typhoon Lekima killed at least 89 people and left 10 others missing across provinces in central and northern Vietnam.
