October 18, 2007 12:30 p.m. EST Ed Sutherland - AHN Editor Beijing, China (AHN) - The popular video-sharing site YouTube was blocked Thursday by China's authorities, a day after the Google-owned service opened a version in Taiwan. The block seemed to target China-based Internet users. Google's blog hosting service, Blogspot is available. Analysts took the move on China's part to be a reaction to YouTube's attempts to make inroads into the regime's neighbor or the result of the ongoing Communist Party Congress, set to wrap up Sunday. Along with blocking YouTube, China unblocked Yahoo's photo-sharing site Flickr, according to a report.
