JupiterResearch expects more than $39 billion online sales will be made before 2007 ends. In a report titled "U.S. Online Retail Holiday Forecast" the research firm said: "This market remains insulated from macroeconomic factors cited to adversely affect overall holiday retail sales." "As a result, retailers are planning to increase their efforts to attract customers across a variety of tactics with search marketing leading the way." An estimated 126 million people this year in the United States are expected to buy items online by the end of December, six percent higher than last year, JupiterResearch said. According to Hitwise, Amazon is the top online retail website with more than 12 percent of the market while Wal-Mart garnered the second busiest online retail Web site.
