October 27, 2007 1:29 p.m. EST Manar Ammar - AHN News Writer Cairo, Egypt (AHN) - Saudi Arabian authorities beheaded three Pakistani men on Friday. The men were convicted of killing another Pakistani man and raping his wife. Saudi Arabia is the only country in the world that beheads convicts. "They beat him up, threatened him with a knife, blindfolded him and used a rope to strangle him," said a statement issued by the Interior Ministry. The statement mentioned that the three men stole money and jewelries from the couple before taking the wife to a remote place to rape her. The triple execution is the 116th beheading this year in the kingdom. Some 38 were beheaded in 2006 and 83 in 2005, according to AP. Two thirds of the world countries have put an end to the death penalty, yet at least 1,591 people were executed in 25 countries and at least 3,861 people were sentenced to death in 55 countries in 2006, according to Amnesty International.
