Ed Sutherland - AHN Editor Washington, DC (AHN) - The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is ready to end an exclusive deals between cable and apartment operators, allowing consumers to choose television providers. The deal opens the door for phone companies that were locked out of selling video services to some renters. Studies found cable prices fall up to 30 percent when there is competition. Twenty-five percent of Americans live in apartment complexes and 40 percent of apartment dwellers are Hispanic or African-American. The ruling, just the latest in an effort by FCC Chairman Kevin Martin to open competition, is expected Wednesday.
