November 21, 2007 10:13 p.m. EST Isabelle Duerme - AHN News Writer New York, NY (AHN) - A man devoured a ten-person feast in fifteen minutes, in an attempt to raise awareness for those who go hungry in New York City. Competitive eating champion Tim Janus devoured 4.5 kilograms of turkey, 1.8 kilograms of mashed potatoes, 1.4 kilograms of cranberry sauce, 1.1 kilograms of beans, and an entire pumpkin pie for dessert. "What's so important about today is that it begins to full my stomach up and I can now leave a little more for everybody else," Janus said. Janus gained reputation for his eating abilities by setting world titles in various foods such as cannolis, marshmallow Peeps and tiramisu. An estimated 1.3 million New Yorkers are starving in the Big Apple, and depend on soup kitchens for their meals, according to the Food Bank of New York City.
