Cairo, Egypt (AHN) - Iran has announced it is willing to begin nuclear cooperation with Egypt, head of Iran's Interest Section in Egypt Vafa Bassim, said in the North African nation. Egypt, which attempted to develop a nuclear program decades ago is once again going forward on the project.

Iran's Foreign Minister submitted a letter via senior diplomat Hossein Rajabi to Egypt's FM Ahmed Aboul Gheit on his nation's willingness to begin their efforts. Rajabi said in Cairo that "Iran as one of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) members is continuing its program under the agency's law."

This was an apparent jab at the international community who believes Tehran is trying to develop their nuclear program for military purposes, which the Iranian government has vehemently denied.

Rajabi continued to say that "upon IAEA's inspectors reports and several reports of IAEA's chief [Mohamed] Baradei, Iran has never deviated from international laws in its nuclear program."

He congratulated Egypt on beginning its program, saying Iran was ready to assist in matters concerning the building of nuclear facilities.
