Reason For Kennedy's Death Not Expected For 6-8 Weeks

Tampa, FL (AHN) - Those people looking for answers to the shocking death of pitcher Joe Kennedy this past Friday will have to be patient because medical tests that will used to determine the baseball player's passing will take six to eight weeks to be completed.

Kennedy, who last played for the Toronto Blue Jays, died after collapsing at his in-law's house early Friday morning.

The 28-year-old, California-born Kennedy played for five teams in his seven-year career in the majors. His biggest successes were with Tampa Bay who he played with from 2001-03 and Colorado where he played from 2004-05.

In 222 games in his career, the left-hander had a 43-61 record with a 4.79 ERA.

Kennedy is survived by a pregnant wife, Jami, and a one-year old son named Kaige.

The suddenness of Kennedy's death left many of his family and friends in utter shock.

Dan Haren, who played with Kennedy when the two were with Oakland in 2006, spoke to the San Francisco Chronicle upon hearing the news of his close friend's death.

"(Joe) was such a good dad and loved his wife so much," he told the newspaper. "It's just tragic. There's never a good time for something like this, but during the holidays and his son had just turned one, and he was just getting his real life going. It makes me sick."

Kennedy was reportedly in perfect health at the time of his collapse and initial results of an autopsy failed to give a definitive answer as to what happened to the baseball player. That is why forensic investigator Amanda Whidden said on Saturday that she would wait until tests are completed to release a cause of death.
