Ed Sutherland - AHN Editor San Antonio, Texas (AHN) - AT&T CEO Randall Stephenson said the telecom giant expects to offer a faster iPhone in 2008. The new version would support 3G rather than AT&T's slower EDGE network. The comments came as Stephenson spoke earlier this week at the Churchill Club in Santa Clara, Calif. Apple had no comment, according to the AP. Stephenson didn't offer details on the cost of the new iPhone. The AP compared AT&T's network currently used by the iPhone as akin to dial-up performance. The announcement comes as the iPhone begins distribution deals in the U.K., France and Germany. Some reports said European customers question purchasing the iPhone without 3G support.
