Hanoi, Vietnam (AHN) - Around 14,000 workers in a plant that manufactures Nike Inc. products in Vietnam returned to work on Monday after staging a labor strike for five days.

The management of the company that run the plant said it has agreed to increase the pay of the striking workers, one of their key demands in staging the work stoppage.

The South Korean-owned Tae Kwang Vina plant has agreed to pay its workers an additional $4.50 (70,000 Vietnamese dong) monthly representing transportation allowance.

The plant, located in Dong Nai which is some 19 miles northeast of Ho Chi Minh City, is one of 10 contractors employed by Nike in Vietnam.

A Nike spokesman, Chris Helzer, said, "We are pleased that factory management and workers were able to openly discuss grievances and quickly reach resolution."
