Preciosa Dumlao - AHN News Writer Columbia, S.C. (AHN) - Supporters of 10-term Texas congressman and Republican presidential hopeful Ron Paul raised more than $6 million to boost his campaign efforts for the White House Sunday. The goal was to raise as much money as possible using the Internet in one day, which they called a "Money Bomb." In the previous campaign, fundraisers brought in $4.2 million. According to the campaign Web site, donations reached over $6 million at midnight EST. Paul's campaign spokesman Jesse Benton said those donations are processed credit card receipts where median donation is about $50. The idea was suggested by Paul's supporters who are not connected officially to the campaign, Benton said An avid supporter, Trevor Lyman, who is traveling the country and following the Ron Paul blimp said the fundraiser coincides with the date of the 234th anniversary of the Boston Tea Party.
