Nicole Richie Gives Birth To A Girl

Los Angeles, CA (CNS) - Nicole Richie has a girl! The very new mom and her rocker boyfriend Joel Madden welcome a baby girl born on Friday at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, the pair's rep says.

Richie and Madden are proud parents of Harlow Winter Kate Madden, who weighed in at 6 lbs, 7 oz.

"The beautiful healthy baby girl left the hospital with her ecstatic parents," says their rep. The birth was confirmed to People magazine exclusively.

26-year-old Richie announced her pregnancy in July. She told Diane Sawyer on her show, Good Morning America, "I would really want to be someone my child would look up to."

The adopted daughter of famous crooner Lionel Richie is known to have a wild childhood. She said the idea of being a mother had made her more mature. "When I found out that I was pregnant, there was just something inside of me that felt a responsibility to mend any issues that I've had with my parents in the past, because, listen, I've put them through a lot."

She had also reportedly mended her relationship with her biological parents when she learned of her pregnancy.

Richie and Madden had said they planned to have a wedding but a date has not been set. The Good Charlotte rocker said that "marriage is in our future" but he wasn't sure when.

Madden's eldest brother, Josh, had recently been quoted that Richie is due anytime next week.
