Los Angeles, CA (CNS) - Dr. Phil McGraw is in trouble for trying to help Britney Spears. The celebrity psychologist is facing investigation by California Board of Psychology after offering the pop star his services without a license.

McGraw - who has gained famed for his constant TV guesting on Oprah - is now in trouble himself after the Board's bosses received a complaint regarding McGraw's lack of license when he went to Spears.

Dr. Phil visited the 26-year-old troubled singer at her room in Cedars-Sinai Medical Center hospital after a domestic breakdown at her home.

It was recently reported that the Spears clan wasn't too happy about McGraw going public with the star's condition even though he had already said he would not pursue Spears' medical case anymore.

Aside from the Gimme More singer's family, McGraw had also been criticized by his peers for planning a TV special about the Spears' troubles.
