January 24, 2008 9:59 p.m. EST Paul Icamina - AHN News Writer Washington, D.C. (AHN) - A malware is actively spreading on cell phone networks, according to security vendor Fortinet. The SymbianOS Worm runs on several Symbian S60 enabled devices, including handsets such as Nokia 6600, 6630, 6680, 7610, N70 and N72 handsets, PC World reported. The worm is disguised as a multimedia file called Beauty.jpg, Sex.mp3 or Love.rm, Fortinet warned. It said the worm, when installed, gathers cell phone contact lists and generates itself to the numbers which, so far, belong to the same cell phone operator in China. "It is actual spreading in the wild," said Guillaume Lovet, manager of Fortinet's Threat Response Team Lovet, adding it only afects Symbian S60 enabled devices but seems to be spreading in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. "Symbian users must not to say yes to any .jpg, .mp3, or .rm files trying to install themselves on your phone," he said.
