Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (AHN) - Internet titan Google is reportedly considering constructing a tech farm in Malaysia, after research concluded that the country housed the largest number of Google users in the entire South East Asian region.

Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi made the announcement Sunday, saying that move would give Google a wider regional presence.

"They want to make their presence felt in Malaysia," AFP quoted Abdullah during the World Economic Forum held in Davos, Switzerland.

Google also boost the country's IT and communications industry.

According to reports, Google had also considered other countries, such as Vietnam or India, with the intentions of erecting the world's largest server farm.

Malaysia, however, was found to have a large storage area, said the Malaysia Sun, and is on its way to becoming a major global technology magnate.

A major step for the country in terms of reaching that goal was the construction of the Multimedia Super Corridor, built from the ground ten years ago. It was said to be "Malaysia's answer to California's Silicon Valley."
