Jupiter Kalambakal - AHN News Writer Ankara, Turkey (AHN)- Turkish warplanes carried out heavy air raids on three villages in northern Iraq, reported to be enclaves of the Kurdistan Workers Party, a terrorist organization. No casualties were reported as most of the residents left the area since Turkish bombardments in recent months. For 12 hours starting at 3 a.m., Avashin, Basyan and Hakurk were heavily bombed. These villages are located in northern Iraq where the borders of Iraq, Iran and Turkey meet. Turkish military has been hunting rebels of the Kurdish group, which has been launching cross-border attacks against Turkey from Iraq. The Kurdistan party has been fighting for autonomy for Kurds in southeastern Turkey.
