February 16, 2008 1:51 p.m. EST Nicole King - AHN Reporter Anchorage, AK (AHN) - Authorities say two snowmobilers died in Alaska when an avalanche they triggered buried them for nearly an hour. The two were reportedly experienced snowmobilers. Christoph Vonalvensleben, 25, and Jeremy Stark, 27, were part of a six person party who were driving near Turnagain Pass when the avalanche happened. CPR was unsuccessful on the victims. The other people in the party were accounted for. Park rangers said about 500 to 700 of the hill collapsed during the avalanche. Up to a foot of new snow had created dangerous conditions in the back country area about 70 miles south of Anchorage.
