New York, NY (CNS) - The long-awaited Blind Faith reunion previewed at Chicago's Crossroads Guitar Festival last summer came to full fruition in New York Monday night, as Steve Winwood and Eric Clapton opened their three-night residency at Madison Square Garden.

Playing their first full length show since the demise of their co-founded late-60's super group, the duo gave a righteous nod to that stage of their career, covering half of Blind Faith's sole and eponymous '69 album. "Had to Cry Today" opened the show and set the pace for their 24-song set that also included "Presence of the Lord," "Can't Find My Way Home," and "Well All Right."

Each also sprinkled bits of their solo careers, Winwood contributed hits like "Pearly Queen" and "Dear Mr. Fantasy," while Clapton pitched in with "After Midnight" and the show closer, "Crossroads."

The other star of the night appeared to be the ghost of the pair's mutual friend - Jimi Hendrix. "Voodoo Chile" and "Little Wing" offered standard fare, but Clapton and Winwood also delved the deep catalogue for "Changes."
