Los Angeles, CA (CNS) - "Step Up 2 the Streets" has only been in theaters for two weeks and Disney has already decided to start producing the third installment of the feel-good dance inspiration movies.

"Step Up" was released in late summer of 2006 and was an instant hit. The story follows Tyler Gage, a street dancer, who can't seem to keep himself out of trouble. He does community service at the Maryland School of the Arts where he meets Nora, a dancer in dire need of a partner for her senior showcase. Tyler struggles between doing what is right and doing what his friends think is right.

"Step Up 2 the Streets" has received mediocre reviews but raked in $28.7 million. The movie is more focused on the battle of "crews" of street dancers. One member, Andie, is forced to attend Maryland School of the Arts as a last resort. She struggles to fit in with the structured classes. She meets Chase Collins and they decided to form their own street crew.

The trilogy will continue with "Step Up 3-D." Parts of the movie are set to be filmed in 3-D. Producers Jennifer Gibgot and Adam Shankman, of Offspring Entertainment, have already signed on with Disney. They produced the previous two movies. Director Jon Chu may also be returning to direct the film.
