Guwahati, India (AHN) - At least one person was killed and 14 others injured in a powerful explosion on Wednesday at a crowded marketplace in the country's northeast Assam state, police said.

The bomb strapped to a bicycle, kept between a computer and a mobile shop at Bargolla Chariali, about 100 miles from Tezpur police station under Sonitpur district on Wednesday afternoon.

The injured included three women and a 12-year-old boy. Police blamed the explosion on the United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA), a banned rebel group fighting for an independent homeland since 1979. More than 10,000 people have lost their lives to the insurgency in Assam over the past three decades.
