Mexico, Maine (AHN) - About twenty-four students and one staff member were treated for carbon monoxide poisoning at a hospital in Maine. Carbon monoxide alarms went off at the Region 9 School of Applied Technology in Mexico, Maine on Wednesday.
The twenty-five patients received high-flow oxygen therapy and are expected to be fine, said Glenn Prescott of Med-Care Ambulance. Three of the patients were brought to a local hospital through an ambulance while the others were taken by a school bus, he added.
"The kids seem to be doing fine," Prescott added.
According to SAD 21 Superintendent Tom Ward, the patients were immediately brought to the hospital after complaining of headaches and nausea early Wednesday.
School's emergency procedures were followed, Ward said.
