Morales - AHN News Writer Bangkok, Thailand (AHN) - The latest look at shopping comes from Shermans Travel, which has put together its list of the top spots for "shopaholics." The Thai capital Bangkok topped the list for its reputation as one of the best shopping destinations in Asia. Good finds in the city are high-quality silk, jewelry, and traditional crafts for a reasonable amount of money. Buenos Aires in Argentina is cited for its low cost leather products. Denmark's Copenhagen is among the top five for its wide-range of merchandise especially home accessories and glassware such as Holmegaard and Royal Copenhagen Porcelain. Another Asian city, Hong Kong is considered a shopping haven with its street markets, designer boutiques and mega malls selling everything from jade to silk and electronic gadgets at big discounts. London shopping areas in Saville Row, Jermyn Street, Camden Market, Oxford Street, and Portobello Market are a must-visit for shoppers. Besides the appeal of its Hollywood celebrities, glitzy Los Angeles is also a favorite destination for shopping. The Grove, a store selling everything from fresh vegetables to the latest gadgets, is among the must-see in the city The Moroccan city of Marrakesh, with it bustling souk (shopping bazaar) offers a unique experience in shopping. For instance, bargaining over merchandises is a way of life for Moroccans. New York city's exclusive boutiques off Madison Avenue, knock-off stalls along Canal Street, mega-stores such as Bloomingdales, Saks Fifth Avenue, Chelsea, the Lower East Side and Macy's as well as NoLita and SoHo are cited as among the hotspots as far as shopping is concerned. The romantic city of Paris offer a different kind of pleasurable shopping, particularly for haute couture and artsy knickknacks. Local favorites include the Galeries Lafayette and Printemps on Boulevard Haussmann in the 9th. The French-owned St. Barthélemy, popularly called as St. Barths is a favorite hangout of the jet-set, but is also the capital of the Caribbean shopping scene because of its duty-free status and 200-plus boutiques.
