TELUS Completes $100M Broadband Rollout In Western Canada

Vancouver, Canada (AHN)- Canada's TELUS said Thursday it completed the rollout of a $100 million broadband investment in western Canada. The project installed 1,100 cell sites in British Columbia and Alberta since 2005.

TELUS customers can now access wireless high speed Internet using a TELUS cell phone in the two western provinces.

The new broadband network covers about 95 percent of BC and Alberta residents and offers downloading speeds at 450 to 800 kilobits per second to a maximum possible speed of 3.1 megabits per second, and uploading speeds at 300 to 400 kilobits per second with a maximum possible speed of 1.8 megabits per second.

With $9.1 billion in annual revenue, TELUS has 11.1 million customer connections including 5.6 million wireless subscribers, 4.4 million wireline network access lines and 1.2 million Internet subscribers.

TELUS provides a wide range of communications products and services including data, internet protocol, voice, entertainment and video.
