New York, NY (CNS) - Australian actor Heath Ledger's January 22 death is officially under investigation by the Federal Drug Enforcement Agency. The DEA is looking into how Ledger acquired the prescription drugs Oxycotin and Vicodin that contributed to the lethal accidental overdose that killed him.

According to New York's Daily News, the investigators are not questioning the cause of death, but rather how the prescription drugs were acquired. There are two doctors in question, one in California and the other in Texas, who provided Ledger with prescriptions.

The official cause released by the New York City medical examiner's office stated, "Ledger died as the result of acute intoxication by the combined effects of oxycodone, hydrocodone, diazepam, temazepam, alprazolam and doxylamine". The investigators on the case have subpoenaed the results.

Ledger, 28, was discovered in his New York apartment by his masseuse and his maid. He was formerly engaged to Michelle Williams and the two have a daughter together, Matilda Rose, born in 2005.
