March 3, 2008 2:05 p.m. EST Lorrie Ramirez - Celebrity News Service Toronto, Canada (CNS) - Jeff Healey, the blind rock and jazz artist, succumbs to a rare form of cancer at 41. Famous for playing his guitar flat on his lap, Healey suffered from Retinoblastoma which earlier claimed his eye sight when he was 1 years old. His unique style together with his soothing voice, earned him a title of a teenage musical prodigy. He has performed with musical giants such as George Harrison, B.B. King and Steve Ray Vaughan. His 1988 album "See the Light" which included the hit song "Angel Eyes" was nominated for a Grammy award and was also successful in record sales. His publicist Richard Flohil was quoted saying, "Jeff was an intriguing player to watch, because he played guitar - by any conventional standard - all wrong, with it flat across his lap. But he was a remarkable, a virtuoso player." Healey's latest album "Mess of Blues," his first rock album in eight years, is scheduled for a North American release on April 22.
