March 7, 2008 8:02 p.m. EST Bill Lumpkin - AHN Editor Palm Bay Harbor, FL (AHN) - Jeff Maggert was three-under after nine holes on Friday and eight-under for the tournament to take a three-shot lead at the PODS Championship when play was suspended at 4:38 p.m. with dozens of golfers still left to finish up their second rounds. Maggert shot an opening round 6-under 66 on the 7,340-yard Copperhead layout. He started out with birdies on three of his first four holes on Friday on the way to a 33. The course is expected to play entirely different on Saturday with temperatures to be at least 20 degrees colder and winds shifted from southeast to northwest. Said Maggert, "The hard part is shifting gears tomorrow because this golf course is going to change significantly." Kenny Perry and D.J.Trahan are tied for second - three shots behind Maggert. Three players are tied at 4-under - Sean O'Hair, Jeff Overton and first-round leader Bart Bryant, who was 2-over through seven holes after an opening-round 65. Lee Janzen, Billy Mayfiair, Stuart Appleby and Mark Calcavecchia all completed their rounds and are tied at 3-under. Tim Petrovic and Kevin Sutherland both had the low rounds of the day with 68s. Ernie Els, who won last week at the Honda Classic, is unlikely to make the cut after back-to-back 73s and is at 4-over 146. Six players failed to break 80, including John Daly with an 80 and David Toms with an 81. Play is scheduled to resume on Saturday at 7:30 a.m.
