Brady Bunch Creator Awarded With Hollywood Star

Los Angeles, CA (CNS) - Sherwood Schwartz, creator of "Brady Bunch" and "Gilligan's Island" has been awarded with the prestigious star on the Hollywood's Walk of Fame.

In his acceptance speech the TV producer thanked Dawn Wells and Florence Henderson, the two stars in his famous shows.

According to Schwartz, "To me, Dawn will always be Mary Ann on Gilligan's Island and Florence will always be Mrs. Brady."

He also shared how he started in the business saying that it was purely accidental after he wrote jokes for the late Bob Hope.

"Bob liked my jokes, used them on his show and got big laughs. Then he asked me to join his writing staff," he said.

Later on he focused on television, creating "Gilligan's Island" in 1963. The show lasted for four years, after which he created "The Brady Bunch" which aired in 1967.
