New York (AHN) - Rumors of Microsoft Corp. adopting the Blu-ray technology for their Xbox 360 gaming consoles were debunked as a top Microsoft executive denied the allegations.

Aaron Greenberg, Microsoft's Group Marketing Manager, stated in an interview that the company will not be producing Xbox 360 hardware that will support the Blu-ray format.

"Xbox is not currently in talks with Sony or the Blu-ray Association to integrate Blu-ray into the Xbox experience," Greenberg said, as quoted on Wired.com.

Greenberg's statement came after an announcement by Sony regarding a partnership with Microsoft in support of its Blu-ray technology.

Stan Glasgow, U.S. Sony president, stated that talks with Microsoft have resulted in an agreement for the company to "support Blu-ray in ways that make sense."

Microsoft, a former carrier of the HD DVD format, became one of the last companies to jump ship and transfer to Blu-ray technology, stating that the move was imperative for the company's expansion and innovation.

"We have already working on, for example, in Windows, device driver support for Blu-ray drives and the like, and I think the world moves on," said CEO Steve Ballmer during a Microsoft convention in Las Vegas.

According to Techtree, Microsoft's move resulted in a halt in the production of Xbox 360 add-ons that support the HD DVD format for game players opting for additional visual features.
