Los Angeles, CA (CNS) - Britney Spears wants to totally erase Kabbalah from her life. The "Toxic" pop star, who had publicly left the religion in 2006, has allegedly shelled out $2,000 to have her Kabbalah tattoo on her neck removed.

The tattoo, which is the mark of Mem, Hey, and Shin, suggests that the 26-year-old singer takes "responsibility for everything in her life and accepting she can heal herself in all ways." However, Spears feels it doesn't ring true anymore.

A source close to the singer says, "When she got the tattoo, Britney was in control of her life and her career. The whole world can see she's lost control, and the tattoo made her feel like a hypocrite."

Spears became involved with the religion when pop superstar Madonna introduced her to the Kabbalah Center in 2004. She left in 2006 stating, "I no longer study Kabbalah, my baby is my religion."
