March 20, 2008 7:26 a.m. EST Florida Padilla - AHN Zagreb, Croatia (AHN) - An official from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Croatia confirmed on Wednesday that Serbia recalled its ambassador in Zagreb, following its declaration of support for Kosovo's independence. The ministry's spokesman, Mario Dragun added that Croatian deputy foreign minister, Neven Pelicaric received a note from the Serbian ambassador, Radivoj Cveticanin. Dragun explained that the note indicated Serbia's strong protest on Croatia's decision to support Kosovo's unilateral declaration of independence hours earlier. Dragun added that the Croatian foreign minister told the Serbian ambassador, of Croatia's intention to develop and continue its ties with Serbia, stressing the importance of stability in the region for Europe's peace and security. Meanwhile, the Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that the same note of protest were also handed to authorities in Bulgaria and Hungary.
