Los Angeles, CA (CNS) - Two former members of the fun-loving iconic beach band The Beach Boys settled a five-year long legal dispute over the use of the band's name. Beach Boy members Mike Love and Al Jardine reached an agreement after a two-day conference in Superior Court although details of the settlement were not disclosed.

The dispute began in 2003 when Love sued Jardine claiming he fronted a group that used various versions of the Beach Boys names. The lawsuit said Love was the sole licensee to perform under the name and that Jardine was denied use of the Beach Boys name because he did not agree to abide by terms of a proposed license.

Love was seeking $2 million in court costs and $1 million more in money he said Jardine had collected from using the name.

According to a lawyer for Jardine, the case has been settled in a friendly matter and Jardine feels happy about the outcome.

The Beach Boys were founded in 1961 by brothers Brian, Carl and Dennis Wilson, their cousin Love and Brian's friend Jardine. Dennis died in 1983 and Carl in 1998.
