March 25, 2008 7:20 a.m. EST Isabelle Duerme - AHN News Writer Cardiff, Wales (AHN) - A man who found himself the winner of a ?1.3 million ($2.6 million) lottery recently returned to his job at a local McDonald's after living a rich life, simply because he missed his co-workers. The man, 25-year old Luke Pittard, won the lottery with his girlfriend and co-worker, 29-year old Emma Cox, 18 months ago, leading Pittard to quit his job as the restaurant's staff trainer. However, he decided to return because of the fact that he simply loved his job. "They all think I'm a bit mad but I tell them there's more to life than money," said Pittard, as quoted by the UPI. "I loved working at McDonald's before I became a millionaire and I'm really enjoying being back there again." Pittard's decision to go back to his job at the restaurant would mean going back to earning ?5.85 per hour. Meanwhile, his girlfriend Emma would be staying at home, taking care of their three-year old daughter Chloe. The couple got married in a lavish ceremony at the Hilton Hotel last November, with all of their co-workers in attendance. After some time, Pittard realized that he wanted to come back, as he had forged friendships with his co-workers. "To be honest," said Pittard, quoted by South Wales Echo, "there's only so much relaxing you can do. I'm only young. A bit of hard world never did any harm." His wife reportedly supported his decision, saying that Pittard did love his job at the restaurant. "Although Luke is only working two days, it is still a bit strange not having him around all the time," said Cox. Workers described Pittard's return as a welcome surprise. Is boss, Katherine Jones, described Luke as "a great member of our team." "I'm glad he has had the time to enjoy his winnings, but we're also really happy that he has chosen to come back to us," she said. "It's as if he never went away."
