Montecito, CA (CNS) - Oprah Winfrey has lost one beloved member of her family. The Queen of Talk's 13-year-old Cocker Spaniel, Sophie, has passed away succumbing to kidney failure.

A source at her Harpo production company tells Celebrity Dog Watcher, "Everyone here is really sad. Sophie was truly part of the Harpo family as well as Oprah's."

Sophie's death may not have come as a surprise to Winfrey, 54. In the December issue of her magazine "O," she wrote about the condition of her dog saying that she and boyfriend Stedman Graham were "preparing for the inevitable."

Last May, Winfrey's other dog, a Golden Retriever named Gracie, chocked on a ball.
