March 26, 2008 4:28 p.m. EST Jan Westmark - Celebrity News Service Los Angeles, CA (CNS) - Each time a contestant takes to the stage on "American Idol" they are hoping for their big break. One of those breaks includes singing a duet with a top musician. Season One winner Kelly Clarkson teamed up with country artist Reba McIntyre for a very successful duet. This year's Idols were asked who they would like to sing with, if given the chance. Syesha Mercado said Alicia Keys. Mercado said Keys sings from her heart and from her soul and tells a story when she is onstage and is able to connect to whoever she is singing to. David Archuleta said Natasha Bedingfield. The youngest Idol contestant said he would sing a fun song with a cool beat with her. He added that he loved her songs "These Words" and "Love Like This" and that she is one of his favorites because of her mix of pop, soul and R & B. Carly Smithson said Heart. She said that Lynyrd Skynyrd and Heart are her all time favorite bands and that she loves singers with soul and soulful voices. Jason Castro said Gwen Stefani. The dreadlocked singer said he has been a fan of her music since No Doubt. Chikezie said Stevie Wonder. He said Wonder was the first popular artist that he fell in love with and that he likes how Wonder paints a picture when he sings. Michael Johns said Stevie Nicks. The singer also added Annie Lennox, saying he believes the two have the best voices around. Ramiele Malubay and Aretha Franklin. The little singer said it would be her dream come true. David Cook and Raine Maida of Our Lady of Peace. Cook said he has been a fan for a long time and likes the singer's stage presence and voice. Kristy Lee Cook said Jason Aldean. Both singers are country and Cook said she Aldean is her favorite male country singer. Brooke White said Carly Simon. White said she loves music from the '60s and '70s and finds it to be authentic and artistic.
