March 27, 2008 11:09 a.m. EST Vittorio Hernandez - AHN News Writer Toronto, Canada (AHN) - SonnenEnergy Corporation of Toronto completed the first phase of a 10-acre solar power park in Hausen, Germany, ahead of schedule. With the completion of the first phase, 800,000 kilowatt hours of electricity would be made available to Hausen yearly and will generate revenues of $455,000 annually for the company. Sudhir Morar, president and chief executive officer of SonnenEnergy, said phase 2, once completed, would hike the capacity to 1,730 kwp, which would further climb to 2,500 kwp upon completion of all phases. Morar, in a statement, said, "The early completion of Phase 1 also insures that the park will be operational and generating power during the spring and summer months, the peak period for solar power production." The Toronto-based firm also runs and owns an 11-acre solar park in Waldstetten, Germany. It will also expands its operations into North America, Morar added. Germany is leading Europe into developing cleaner sources of energy, including solar power. Some towns like Marburg in Hessen, are legislating laws that would made it mandatory for all new houses and buildings to install solar energy systems. The new law would also cover home or building owners renovating units or adding extra rooms or wings, and those upgrading their heating systems.
