March 27, 2008 12:11 p.m. EST Jan Westmark - Celebrity News Service Los Angeles, CA (CNS) - Information and the plot of the new "The X-Files" sequel has been secretive, but "X-Files" creator Chris Carter and writer Frank Spotnitz did release a few details during the William S. Paley Television Festival. Carter said the new movie takes place in the present and uses a story envisioned when the series ended, although he wouldn't give a title for the movie which is due out July 25. "The X-Files" was a popular FOX paranormal drama which aired from 1993 to 2002. It starred David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson as FBI agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully. Spotnitz said it is not a mythology movie but is true to everything that has happened before and it stays true to Mulder and Scully, who they are and where they would be at this point in their lives and all of the experiences that they've had. The series appeared for the first time as a movie in 1998 with "The X-Files: Fight the Future."
