Louisville, KY (AHN) - Two children were found fatally shot in a home along Settle Boulevard in south Louisville, Kentucky on Thursday. Police said they are still investigating if the crime is connected to a hostage situation at the University of Louisville earlier in the day.

Detective Phil Russell is quoted by Wave3 News as saying that they discovered the two fatalities after university police requested authorities to check on the two children. He added that the call from university officials was made after a woman in campus was disarmed of a handgun.

An advisory on the university's website said a female student had held a counselor hostage at the Belknap Counseling Center in the Health Services building at about 9 a.m. She was disarmed by campus police and taken to the university hospital. No one was reported injured.
