London, England (AHN) - Heathrow Airport's newly opened Terminal 5 continued to be a bedlam on its second day of operation, but at least someone has taken responsibility for the chaos. British Airways chief executive officer Willie Walsh on Thursday claimed full responsibility for all the mess, but said he will not resign because of it.

"It was definitely not our finest hour. Maybe we set our expectations too high. We clearly made mistakes but I am absolutely determined to make this work," Walsh said.

Because of the difficulties, British Airways, the exclusive user of Terminal 5 costing $8.6 billion (4.3 billion pound), moved its full transfer to T5 even beyond its self imposed deadline of April 30.

The problem over delayed or missing luggages caused the cancellation of 78 flights on Thursday, affecting the travel plans of 14,000 air travelers. On the first day, 59 BA flights were canceled. Some passengers managed to get nearby hotel rooms, while others slept on the terminal floor.
