April 2, 2008 8:23 a.m. EST Anne Lu - Celebrity News Service News Writer London, England (CNS) - Doctor Who is about to meet a new force to be reckoned with in the person of a music star. Grammy Award-winning singer Amy Winehouse is set to star in the new series of the British sci-fi program. NME magazine reports that the "Rehab" star will reprise the character of villainess The Rani, a role made famous in the 1980s by Kate O'mara. The Rani is a renegade Time Lady and an evil scientific genius that enslaved entire planets. Sources say the 24-year-old Winehouse is very excited about the role as she is a big fan of the series. A source tells Contactmusic, "She was a total Dr. Who nerd as a kid. Her and Blake have all the DVDs in their flat. She once even told people at the Hawley Arms that she had a massive crush on [fourth Doctor] Tom Baker when he visited the pub." If this project comes to fruition, this will be the singer's acting debut on screen.
