Jan Westmark - Celebrity News Service Los Angeles, CA (CNS) - Sometimes a simple haircut can move an entire nation. When "Friends" star Jennifer Aniston cut her hair into the "Rachel," millions of women followed. And Tom Cruise's wife, Katie Holmes, keeps cutting her bob shorter and shorter much to the delight of the media and hairstylists everywhere. So when "American Idol" contestant David Cook showed up on Tuesday night's show with a new haircut, the nation took notice. Cook, known as Rocker David in the Idol world, has been sporting a bad hairdo since his days as an infant. When the show displayed photos of the contestants as kids, even Cook thought he looked bad. For some reason Cook new he had a bad hair style but seemed powerless to stop it. Thankfully, the odd comb-forward ended last night when the "American Idol" hairstyles apparently got hold of his odd hair style and well, gave him a real hair style. The Rocker David who appeared on the Idol stage Tuesday night was sporting a fresh shorter hair cut with a great side part, a lighter shade and even his face got in on the action and joined the fun by displaying a scruffy goatee. It was enough of a make-over to make Judge Paula Abdul squeal that she loved his hair. And his song choice? Pretty good, but no one was really paying attention to his vocals but instead sizing up the new look. It was such a change for the better that America was finally able to sit back and breathe a collective sigh of relief for a simple haircut.
