Ryan Seacrest Jokes That "American Idol" Is Cancelled - April Fools!

Los Angeles, CA (CNS) - "American Idol" host Ryan Seacrest was just kidding with the live audience and the viewers when he walked on the stage Tuesday night and announced that the show was being canceled for the evening. April Fools! The audience seemed to buy it hook, line and sinker and were also relieved when they found out Seacrest was kidding.

What wasn't an April Fool's joke was the reappearance of the Crying Girl. Ashley Ferl came to fame in the "American Idol" audience in a previous season when she sobbed uncontrollably each time contestant Sanjaya took the stage.

Ferl was back Tuesday night and it seems this time Jason Castro is the object of her affection. Apparently the little girl has a thing for singers with interesting hair. Sanjaya sported everything from a mohawk to straight blown-out hair and Castro is the dude with the dreadlocks.

Castro has turned into something of a heart throb this season, even receiving a slew of mail from the same girl. Seacrest read one of her postcards to Castro during the show. Sadly for Castro, this wasn't an April Fools joke.
