Contestant Brooke White Breaks Down On "American Idol"

Los Angeles, CA (CNS) - Wonder what happened behind the scenes of "American Idol" last night? The answer would be water works, tears, crying and any other way you could describe a breakdown. The breakdown didn't come from Ramiele Malubay, who eventually left the show, but from super sweetie Brooke White.

After she learned she was in the bottom three for the first time last night, White started to cry and had a hard time catching her breath. It took nearly all the Idols to calm her down, including producer Nigel Lythgoe.

Contestant David Cook got up off the couch to give White a hug, while Carly Smithson stepped in and fanned White's face with her hand while assuring her that everything would be okay. Contestant David Archuleta also gave White a hug. Even after Ryan Seacrest announced that White was safe the tears kept flowing.

White's husband, Dave, was in the audience but could only offer his support by looking on. He is supporting his wife in another way. Sources say Brooke's hubby is not trimming or cutting his hair until his wife either wins of is booted off "American Idol."

White, who is a self-proclaimed beauty school drop-out (wonder if she'll sing that song?), doesn't want anyone else to cut Dave's hair.
