April 5, 2008 9:07 a.m. EST Shannon Moore - Celebrity News Service New York, NY (CNS) - Leonardo DiCaprio is leading the way for living green. Leo drives a hybrid, had solar panels installed on his home in Los Angeles and has now purchased an eco-friendly condominium in the Battery Park City area of Manhattan that overlooks the Hudson River. The 240-unit condominiums, called Riverhouse, are currently under construction and are scheduled to be completed this summer for occupancy. The condo boasts low emission paints, a 24-hour fresh filtered air system, a water treatment facility and rotating solar panels. The high rise building has a 50 foot lap pool, media café, fitness center and a dog spa. The main floor of the building is also going to have a branch of the New York Public Library and a City Bakery. DiCaprio's publicist released a statement saying, "Riverhouse is a prime example of how green technology is both accessible and achievable for new residential developments-it is a groundbreaking building." DiCaprio, 33, is currently the executive producer for the upcoming Discovery Channel series 'Eco-Town.' It's good to see a celebrity practicing what he preaches.
