Jan Westmark - Celebrity News Service Los Angeles, CA (CNS) - Actor Brad Pitt may not be a singer like the "American Idol" contestants, but that didn't stop the audience from treating him like an idol when he pre-taped a segment for "Idol Gives Back" on Sunday night. When the actor appeared on stage to tape a segment for the upcoming Wednesday night show, the audience went wild and made talking impossible. Pitt, 44, was trying to introduce a film clip of former "Idol" contestant Chris Daughtry's trip to Uganda, but the crowd jumped to their feet and went wild. When they finally did quiet down, Pitt tried to talk and his microphone wasn't working. Stage manager Debbie McVickers rushed onto the stage to fix the microphone which had come unclipped from his shirt, joking with the crowd that she just needed a moment with Pitt and wanted "a reason to touch him." Segments of the "Idol Gives Back" show were pre-recorded at Hollywood's Kodak Theater for the second annual "Idol Gives Back" show. Pitt was recognized by the show for his efforts to help rebuild housing for families who lost everything in Hurricane Katrina in 2005. "Idol Gives Back" will air Wednesday on FOX.
