Los Angeles, CA (CNS) - Australian pop star Kylie Minogue recently underwent an ambitious TV campaign to promote her new CD in the United States, but despite all the promotion her album has debuted at only No. 139 on the Billboard album charts.

The star promoted her new album "X" on "Ellen," the "Today" show, the "Late Late Show," as well as performing on "Dancing With the Stars."

According to PerezHilton.com, Minogue has only sold a disappointing 5,500 copies in the U.S.

While the singer-songwriter is popular elsewhere, some say she may never gain as much popularity in the States. The poor release of "X," however, is being blamed on the choice of the album's first single, "All I See."

Minogue is one of the most recognizable celebrities and sex symbols in Australia, Asia and Europe. She has won numerous awards as a singer, songwriter and actress.
