St Louis, MS (AHN) - Isle of Capri Casinos Inc. on Sunday announced that it has shut down operations of its Natchez, Mississippi, riverboat gaming hall until floodwaters from the Mississippi River recede.

Bloomberg interviewed the Casino chain's spokeswoman Jill Haynes, who explained that the decision was brought about severe flooding along the access roads. She added that sandbagging efforts proved futile against the swelling river.

Flood warnings have been issued in the area since last week.

Isle of Capri Casinos Inc. has 18 casinos in the U.S., the Bahamas and the U.K. Three gaming halls operate in the Mississippi area.
