Los Angeles, CA (CNS) - The sleeper movie "Juno," which grossed more than $140 million and earned a Best Original Screenplay Oscar for screenwriter Diablo Cody, is now out on DVD. Combined with a wacky soundtrack, the movie is as quirky as they come and turned newcomer Ellen Page into a star.
Juno, played by Page, decides to become sexually active with best friend Paulie Bleeker, played by Michael Cera, and ends up getting pregnant.
The movie plays out as Juno decides to give the baby up for adoption and finds a childless couple in The Pennysaver. The movie is funny, as well as odd and sad at times, but has earned a strong following among the younger generation.
Page was able to deliver the role of the articulate teen dealing with a major life event with wit, and her portrayal earned her Best Actress nominations from the Golden Globes, the Screen Actors Guild, and the Academy, and a host of kudos that dubbed her the breakout star of the year.
